Gharib Benabid

Founder and managing director

“Creating the conditions that allow others to succeed.”

SOST’N white paper

He came to the Paris region in 2003 through a youth service. Then a federation of associations, a councillor’s office at the Val-de-Marne departmental council, and the running of a local authority’s private office. More than twenty years on the side of those who commission a public event, before producing one himself.

At the youth service he became deputy head. Beyond the administrative work, he learned to deal with local authorities, institutional partners, associations and families, and saw at close range how local public policy actually works.

A federation of associations then took him into setting up facilities for young people in social or educational difficulty. That is where he specialised in urban policy and priority neighbourhoods, and got used to coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

In the councillor’s office he met the demands of political management: reconciling strategy, budget constraints and what is actually possible on the ground. As chief of staff he coordinated institutional events, handled sensitive situations, worked against the clock and answered for the organisation.

Self-taught, with a two-year degree in communication and cultural mediation, he holds experience to be the most demanding of schools. SOST’N is no break in that path: “deep down, my job has never changed.”
